Policy Framework Consultation Process#

Specification of a community process for the further development of the NFDI-AAI Policy Framework

Current Consultations#

Policy Framework Consultations are published in the NFDI OpenProject Wiki.

The Process#

A consultation typically comes as a request from an NFDI body, usually the IAM Workking Group of the Section Common Infrastructures. The working group decides when the work it is ready for consultation. The point of the consultation is to get as much feedback as possible, to find potential issues and to give all NFDI participants a chance to participate and have a say. During the cosultation peroid, every NFDI participant is encouraged to add his/her comments to the respective wiki page.

Closing a Consultation#

When a consultation period ends, the working group or proposing NFDI body is asked to address and resolve all comments – the resolutions are tracked on the wiki for the consultation.
Outputs only become an official NFDI-endorsed outcome when a consultation period has completed to the satisfaction of the Section Common Infrastructures, that they are happy with all comments and issues being correctly resolved and having general consensus. A vote is then held within the Section to endorse the output.

Endorsed Outputs#

All material that has been through a consultation is hosted on the IAM4NFDI website. The NFDI OpenProject wiki holds supporting or explanatory material not included in the consultation, work in progress and other administrative outputs.

What if I’ve Found a Problem?#

If you identify a problem with an existing NFDI-AAI policy document, you can report it to aai-helpdesk@lists.nfdi.de. We keep a log of errata to feed into future work.
